A study suggests cat owners are less likely to die of a heart attack or stroke than people who, well, don't own cats.

And no, dogs don't do the same trick.
"No protective effect of dogs as domestic pets was observed," said the study, presented Thursday at the International Stroke Conference in New Orleans.

That's because they're more likely to die of a fall down the stairs, or slash wounds to the throat.

Cats.
Are.
Evil.

Having two cats myself, I can attest to the fact that they are, indeed, evil. The Famous Druid is correct, you're more likely to die from some sort of repeated puncture wounds, crushed/slashed throat, etc. Also, don't forget death from lack of sleep. Thinking about going out and partying, coming home at 4 am and sleeping until past noon? Think again. Just like the army, 5 am and you're out of bed, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. No vacations, no weekends, no holidays, no days off.

Cute and fuzzy, sure. But, remember, they eat every last bit of their prey, including the bones. That is, if your cats eat bones. Ours do. Just think, you could be cat food. I have no doubt, deep in my heart, that if I croaked from a heart attack, they would eat me. At first it would be out of love. Then, of course, it would be out of necessity.

Oh, yeah, they whine. Not meow. Oh no, that's not meowing. That's whining. And they follow you everywhere, worse than a dog. Always under foot, on top of you, pinning you down in bed. And no matter how much love you give them, they want more, more, more. All day, everyday. Whatever happened to independence?

We nicknamed one of our cats "Visa" - everywhere you want to be.

This is the same cat who sits on my back and wakes me at 3 am with a claw to the back of my head.

Well of course. They love you so much that after you die they want to grok you in fullness! [Big Grin]

Peebs - well, I think the both of them are trying to grok my and Mrs. Tweety's souls while we still live. So, I suppose them groking the body when all is said and done makes sense.

I should also mention that the youngest of our two cats has been nicknamed Birth Control. I believe he is Vatican approved, as well.
